The Programme 2012
In 2012, Alessandro De Marchi, Artistic director of the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music, focuses on the influence that popular, traditional music of the baroque period had on composed music of that time. The programme is a journey through the great world of early music to various folk-music sources and to artistically impressive regions of sound – all across Europe as well as to Latin America and China. Rather exotic beauties also populate the opera stage: the passionate Neapolitan Stellidaura in an opera by Provenzale, the beautiful Helena in Bontempi’s “Il Paride” and the powerhungry Poppea in Monteverdi’s masterpiece.
