“In this proximity to the quiet soul, Albano soon emerged from the harmonic wilderness into moonlit simple passages, where only a few notes move like graces and just as lightly connected.” from: Jean Paul: Titan. Second volume, 57th cycle, Berlin 1801

In the second edition of the concert format “The Blue Hour”, which was introduced in 2024, the Swiss lutenist Luca Pianca does the honors, in keeping with the question “Who pulls the strings?” or “Qui tient les fils?”. In the evening twilight of the now silent Hofgarten, he lets us participate in a “Dialogue de Titan et des Grâces” with the strings of his theorbo - a dialog between a Titan and the Graces of Greco-Roman mythology.

Behind the poetic title of Pianca's theorbo recital lies a delicate to powerful interplay of light and shadow with which the musician, who last delighted Festwochen audiences in 2019 in a duo with Julia Lezhneva in “La Voce”, transports us to the court of the Sun King Louis XIV. The timeless elegance of works by Nicolas Hotman, François Campion and Robert de Visée perfectly illustrate the glorious musical landscape of 17th century France.
