Carlo Pallavicino: «L’amazzone corsara, ovvero L’Alvilda regina de’ Goti» (Opera in three acts)
Libretto by Giulio Cesare Corradi
First performance: Venedig, Teatro SS Giovanni e Paolo, after 1st of February 1686
Performance in Italian with German surtitles

The Barockoper:Jung 2022 is about a revolt taking a twist. The young queen Alvilda from the island of Gotland has nothing left to hold on to in her homeland, for she has been promised to the Danish king Alfo against her will and thereupon decides to exploit his fleet of ships as an amazon corsair. But she is defeated by Alfo – first in battle and then in love. An inner struggle ensues, in which a sense of honour and status finally win the day and Alfo is finally able to embrace his Alvilda, whom he of course truly loves.

The music was written by the composer Carlo Pallavicino. The roles of Alvilda, Alfo and co. are played by a select group of participants from last Festival’s 12th Cesti Competition. The production is directed by singer, recorder player, playwright and actor Alberto Allegrezza, whose specialities include musical comedies of the Renaissance and Baroque periods and who was seen in Innsbruck in 2019 as «Dirce» in the acclaimed opera production «La Dori».
