Founded in 1982, the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, or Akamus for short, is celebrating its 40th anniversary. This is reason enough to invite the orchestra to its anniversary in the Giant Hall of the Innsbruck Imperial Palace. Here, together with the wonderful Roberta Mameli, it will perform a programme centred on three large lamento scenes introduced and linked by instrumental interludes. While figures from ancient mythology, such as Hercules and Hebe, Apollo and Daphne or Acis and Galatea, first take possession of the dramatic action, the cantata «Il pianto di Maria» by Giovanni Battista Ferrandini brings it to a glorious close.
