Following the successful launch in 2024, “Ottavio plus” is entering its second round: Ottavio Dantone will perform a duo program together with a chamber music partner. At his side this year: the internationally acclaimed countertenor Andreas Scholl, who has a long-standing and very successful collaboration with Ottavio Dantone.


They have devised a program consisting equally of works by Henry Purcell and George Frideric Handel. Both held the reins of the London music scene of the late 17th and early 18th centuries respectively for a long time. In addition to two dramatic cantatas by the “caro Sassone”, there is also an exquisite selection of “Songs and Airs” by the composer from Westminster, who was still revered as “Orpheus britannicus” during his lifetime. With songs such as “If music be the food of love”, “Music for a while”, “Fairest Isle” or the famous “Cold Song” from “King Arthur”, this concert guarantees a catchy tune or two at the end of the Festwochen.

To set the perfect tone for the concert, we offer a complimentary introductory talk. Artists will provide exclusive insights into the evening's program in a discussion led by Christian Moritz-Bauer. The talk always begins one hour before the concert.
