Georg Philipp Telemann: "Pastorelle en musique oder Musicalisches Hirten-Spiel" TWV deest
Frankfurt a. M., ca. 1713 - 16
Serenata in one act
Text by the composer after "Les Amants magnifiques" by Molière
Performance based on the critical edition by Kirill Karabits
Performance after the edition by Peter Huth in German and French

You can rely on a happy ending in Telemann's spring-fresh “Pastorelle en musique or Musical Shepherd Game”, which heads towards a double wedding after all sorts of emotional turbulence. Under the shepherd's costumes, young people emerge, who are confronted with an emotional chaos: on the one hand, they want to be free, on the other, they are afraid of commitment – feelings that are not so unfamiliar to us. Musical esprit, rousing energy and beguiling melodicism make it a real pleasure: from German arias to French airs and comedic scenes through to large choral tableaus, Telemann pulls out all of his stupendous variety of styles.
An outstanding cast of singers, including the Innsbruck Cesti competition winner Marie Lys, and the virtuoso Ensemble 1700 under the direction of the Telemann prize winner Dorothee Oberlinger, bestow another treasure from Telemann's stage creations upon the Innsbruck Festival after “Orpheus” and “Flavius Bertaridus”.

A production of the Musikfestspiele Potsdam Sanssouci in co-production with the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music, Musica Bayreuth and the Magdeburg Telemann Festival.
