Further information

Vincenzo Ruffo, who was born in Italy and was one of the most versatile and influential composers in the middle of the 16th century, created the prototype of the musical art book with his “Capricci a tre voci”, which was printed in Milan in 1564, introducing this term for this concept. “Capricci” refers the particularly imaginative, idiosyncratic, if not moody character of these pieces. The Capricci by the Veronese composer are small, exquisite works of art. The ensemble Tasto Solo performs them in a colourful line-up comprising a portative organ, lute, harp and vocals – intimate moments full of sensual beauty.
