Arrival

«The path to the future requires a backward-looking, exploratory glance.» A paradox? Not at all in the realm of «Early Music»!

Among the most inventive minds in the scene is Margret Koell, hailing from Tyrol, who has placed «wondrous machines» at the center of her new concert project: firstly, the Welsh Triple Harp with its three rows of strings, and secondly, the Lyrichord. Until recently considered extinct, the Lyrichord, a harpsichord-like instrument also known as the Viola organista, sets its strings vibrating by several foot-operated wheels and traces its roots back to an invention by Leonardo da Vinci. Da Vinci's flying machine, the so-called «Ornithopter,» in turn inspired a new work for Triple Harp, Lyrichord, and Baroque strings by the composer Christof Dienz, who was born in Innsbruck.

Margret Koell and her ensemble Between the Strings present with joy and a spirit of adventure, old and new concertos, tunes, and airs for the mentioned instruments along with other string and woodwind instruments.
