Andrea Buccarella

Andrea Buccarella’s musical training began as a Puer Cantor in the Sistine Chapel Choir in Rome. After studying organ and composition at the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia, he completed his studies in harpsichord and historical keyboard instruments under Enrico Baiano in Rome, before going on to achieve two Master’s degrees with distinction in harpsichord and historical keyboard instruments at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis under Andrea Marcon.

Andrea is the artistic and musical director of the Abchordis Ensemble, which won first prize at the Handel Competition in Göttingen in 2015. As a soloist, he was the winner of the Musica Antiqua Bruges competition in 2018 and also won the Outhere Award. His CD ‘TOCCATA’ received the Diapason d’Or Découverte in 2020.

Andrea Buccarella is interested in the rediscovery of musical works, particularly from the 18th-century Italian repertoire. He performs with various vocal and instrumental ensembles (the Venice Baroque Orchestra in 2020, the Orchester Frau Musika in 2022) as Maestro al Cembalo.
