Brigitte Wurzer
Born in 1996 in Lienz, East Tyrol, Brigitte Wurzer studied the violin with Raphael Kasprian at the Johann-Joseph-Fux Conservatoire in Graz, musicology at the University of Vienna, and Catholic and Protestant church music at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. She is also currently studying choral conducting with Alois Glaßner, specialising in orchestral conducting with Sian Edwards and children’s choral conducting with Johannes Mertl (Opera School of the Vienna State Opera).
She has attended masterclasses in choral conducting with Yuval Weinberg, Barnaby Smith and Peter Dijkstra. She has also received significant guidance in the field of church music from Markus Landerer.
Among other things, she is a member of the Arnold Schoenberg Choir and has been directing the Collegium Vocale Innsbruck chamber choir since 2023. Since 2022, she has held the post of Director of Church Music at the Jesuit Church in Innsbruck and, since September 2025, that of Cathedral Cantor at the Vienna Cathedral Music Department.
She also teaches on the C-level Church Music course run by the Diocese of Innsbruck in cooperation with the Tyrolean State Conservatoire.
