Josef Laming

Josef Laming is a graduate of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, where he studied harpsichord and organ. His work has been honoured with, amongst other awards, the first prize at the Daniel Herz Organ Competition, the Hans Balmer Foundation’s Encouragement Prize, and the Harold Samuel Prize. He holds degrees from the University of Oxford and the Royal Academy of Music in London, and is a co-founder and harpsichordist of the ensemble The Levée, whose debut CD featuring the newly discovered violin sonatas by the French theorist Denis Delair was released in January 2025. In addition to freelance engagements as a continuo player, he works as an organist at Mariastein Abbey, where he also performs as the director of the ensemble ad·petram.

In 2025, he won the Paul Hofhaimer Prize in Innsbruck.
