Karine Van Hercke
The set designer, dramaturg and costume designer Karine Van Hercke has a dual academic and artistic background (musicology, semiotics, dance, drawing and piano). She directed the Opéra Studio at La Monnaie for seven years and worked as a dramaturg at the Opéra de Lyon for two years.
Since 2003, she has been involved in directing and designing costumes for around fifty productions. Since 2010, in addition to costumes, she has also designed the sets for nearly thirty productions.
She has worked at the opera houses in Linz, Oslo, Brussels, Strasbourg, Toronto, Nancy, Innsbruck, Krefeld, Nice, Görlitz, Metz, Würzburg, Montpellier, Coburg, Limoges, Koblenz, Reims, Rouen, Tours, Wuppertal, Potsdam and Klosterneuburg.
