Nikolaus Webern

Nikolaus Webern studied scenography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. As well as working as an assistant at the Theater an der Wien, the Hamburg State Opera, the Schaubühne Berlin, the Schauspielhaus Bochum and the Williamstown Theatre Festival, he has created his own work as a set designer, including at the Hamburg State Opera, the Schauspielhaus Bochum, the Junges Staatstheater Wiesbaden, the Copenhagen Opera Festival, the Fringe Festival NYC and the Theater an der Wien’s Kammeroper.

In 2008, he was nominated for the Offenbach Lion awarded by the Hessian Theatre Academy for his set design for ‘Hamlet’. In 2011, he won the Ring Award in Graz for the set design of ‘Gefangen in der Realität’. In 2020, he was nominated for the Austrian Music Theatre Award in the ‘Best Set Design’ category for ‘Eugene Onegin’ at the Bregenz Festival.
