Thomas Walker

Thomas Walker, born in Glasgow, studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and under Ryland Davies at the Royal College of Music in London. His repertoire over the past decades has ranged from works by Johann Sebastian, Johann Christian, and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, as well as Georg Friedrich Händel, Christoph Willibald Gluck, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, to Leoš Janáček, Arthur Honegger, and Benjamin Britten. During the 2019/20 season, Thomas Walker performed, among other works, Ludwig van Beethoven’s ‘Missa Solemnis’ with the Belgian National Orchestra, toured with that same ‘Missa Solemnis’, and performed Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Mass in C minor with the Ensemble Vocal de Lausanne, Johann Sebastian Bach’s ‘Magnificat’ with Les Violons du Roy, the ‘St. Matthew Passion’ with the Orchestra of the 18th Century and De Nederlandse Bachvereniging, and George Frideric Handel’s ‘Messiah’ with the Orquestra Barroca Casa da Música Porto, the Real Orquesta Sinfónica in Seville, and the NDR. During the 2018/19 season, Thomas Walker sang the role of Adam in Alessandro Scarlatti’s ‘Il Primo Omicidio’ at the Opéra national de Paris and at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam; the role of Admeto in Christoph Willibald Gluck’s ‘Alceste’ at the Ruhrtriennale; Rinaldo in Joseph Haydn’s ‘Armida’ on tour with the Basel Chamber Orchestra, the title role in Jean-Philippe Rameau’s ‘Zoroastre’ at the Komische Oper Berlin, and the title role in Rameau’s ‘Platée’ at the Stuttgart Opera.
