Invitation to Accreditation

Press release, 1.4.2026

Dear members of the press,

The Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik warmly invite you to Innsbruck to cover this year’s festival.

From 24 July to 30 August 2026, the Festival will celebrate its 50th anniversary. Framed by the anniversary question ‘What do we celebrate? ‘, the Festwochen look both to their own history and to the future of Early Music. At the heart of the programme is Pietro Antonio Cesti’s ‘Il pomo d’oro’, the baroque opera par excellence, presented across two evenings. Georg Frideric Handel’s ‘Atalanta’, this years Barockoper:Jung, adds a further anniversary highlight. Eva-Maria Sens, the Artistic Director, is responsible for the overall programme. As Music Director, Ottavio Dantone shapes the festival together with Accademia Bizantina, the orchestra in residence. Numerous free-admission events at a range of venues complement the anniversary programme.

You can find all events and extensive information on: altemusik.at

We warmly invite you to report from Innsbruck and look forward to receiving your accreditation requests. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or accreditation enquiries. Kindly note that accreditation for ‘Il pomo d’oro’ is only possible for two consecutive evenings.

To experience the full breadth of the 2026 Innsbruck Festival, Eva-Maria Sens and Ottavio Dantone particularly recommend the following consecutive periods, during which opera and concert programmes are combined in especially striking ways:

  • 7–10 August: anniversary production ‘Il pomo d’oro’ (7 and 8 August); followed by the celebration ‘Wir feiern!‘ in the Hofgarten with concerts, encounters, and a screening of the 2025 Festival opera ‘Ifigenia in Aulide’ (9 August), as well as ‘A Tribute to Alan’ with Anna Bonitatibus, Accademia Bizantina and Ottavio Dantone (10 August).
  • 10–13 August: ‘A Tribute to Alan’ with Anna Bonitatibus, Accademia Bizantina and Ottavio Dantone (10 August), anniversary production ‘Il pomo d’oro’ (11 and 12 August), and ‘Christina von Schweden’ at the Innsbruck Cathedral (13 August).
