Come in, come in! - Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik

Come in, come in!

News / 1.8.2026

It is difficult to find the words to describe what is currently happening behind the scenes at the Festwochen: a myth is spreading through the office corridors; there is whispering, laughter and talk of the goosebumps that the final rehearsals of ‘Il pomo d’oro’ give you.
The Innsbruck production lasts three hours each evening – and they fly by. Over the course of these six hours, the stage brings to life what holds the world together: stories of power and vanity, hope and ruin are just as relevant today as they were in 1668. The extraordinary direction builds a bridge to the present day, using subtle humour to offer criticism, both then and now. This opera is an ode to peace and art – featuring grand choral scenes alternating with moving moments, magnificent costumes, intimate music and breathtaking imagery.

Can’t make it to both performances? To give everyone the chance to experience at least part of this extraordinary production, single tickets are also available at short notice. Two days before Part 1 (from 5 August, from 9 August, from 13 August), these can be purchased from 10.00 am at our ticket offices and online.

Our tip: If you can manage it, attend both evenings! Not only because you’ll get to experience the whole story, but also because the double ticket is cheaper than two single tickets and guarantees you the same seat for both performances. And because a production this unique won’t be coming back any time soon.
