Benedikt Sonnleitner
My passion for craftsmanship, music and the trumpet led me, after completing my A-levels, to decide to become a brass instrument maker and to study the trumpet.
So I began an apprenticeship as a brass instrument maker with Robert Worischek in Sachsenkam, Bavaria, and later, in 2011, won the chamber competition and the Bavarian state championship in my journeyman’s examination. Afterwards, whilst preparing for my master craftsman’s examination, I worked as an instrument maker in various places, including Karl Dubsek’s workshop in Innsbruck.
At the same time, I studied the trumpet with Prof. Erich Rinner at the Conservatoire in Innsbruck, where I gained many important musical insights, and completed my studies in 2016 with a concert diploma.
After passing my master’s examination as a master brass instrument maker, I opened my own workshop, which has been based on Maximilianstraße in Innsbruck since 2015 and where I both passionately develop my own instruments and work as a repairer. From 2014 to 2016, I also worked as a specialist teacher of brass instrument making at the State School of Musical Instrument Making in Mittenwald.
