Overview 3/7

It's almost here: on Friday, the Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik will be officially opened by Bundespräsident Alexander Van der Bellen, and this weekend 'Il pomo d'oro' will finally celebrate its long-awaited premiere.

But that's far from all that's happening this week. Since yesterday, visitors can look back on 50 years of festival history in our anniversary exhibition. The 'youngbaroque' festival is in full swing, alongside violin-making workshops, 'Musica montana', 'Festwochengeschichten', 'Musik im Gottesdienst', a concert in the Nikolauskapelle (at Ambras Castle), two performances of 'Mit Pauken und Trompeten', and our big celebration 'Wir feiern!' in the Hofgarten, culminating in an open-air opera screening under the stars.

There truly is something for everyone.

The anniversary programme

From today, our anniversary exhibition on the second floor of the Haus der Musik Innsbruck is open to visitors, offering space for personal memories and reflections on five decades of the Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik. Admission is free.

To accompany the exhibition, join Georg Schmid, Howard Arman and our dramaturge Christian Moritz-Bauer on 9 August at 6.00 pm as they look back on the festival's beginnings at the 'Festwochengeschichte(n)'.

The celebrations continue throughout the day with 'Wir feiern!' in the Hofgarten. From 1.00 pm onwards, enjoy live music in the pavilion, dancing, coffee and ice cream, before the evening concludes at 7.00 pm with an open-air screening of the 2019 Festival production of 'La Dori' beneath the stars.

youngbaroque & masterclass

On Thursday, 6 August, you can take a glimpse into the future of Early Music as the next generation takes to the stage. At 11.00 am, young musicians and singers will present the results of their work from past weeks rehearsals in the Großer Saal at the Haus der Musik Innsbruck.

Free admission tickets are still available here.

And there's plenty more to discover

Join us on Sunday at 11.00 am for 'Musica montana' at the Umbrüggler Alm, or at 7.00 pm for 'Musik im Gottesdienst' at Stiftskirche Wilten. Our youngest visitors will be taking part in Thursday's fully booked violin-making workshop, and, of course, there's 'Mit Pauken und Trompeten': on both Friday and Saturday at 5.00 pm, starting at the Golden Roof and continuing afterwards on the square in front of the Tiroler Landestheater, leading audiences into the world of 'Il pomo d'oro'.
