The wait is almost over: In just two days, the first notes of the Innsbrucker Festwochen's anniversary summer will ring out.
From now on, our weekly festival roundup will accompany you throughout the summer, bringing you highlights from the past week, a look ahead to the events still to come, and exclusive glimpses behind the scenes.
This first edition features the opening two Ambraser Schlosskonzerte, the Werkstattkonzert and not one but two behind-the-scenes insights: into the rehearsals for the Barockoper:Jung production and 'Il pomo d'oro'.

The festive – and sold-out – opening on Fri., 24 July, is given by the 'La Cetra' Barockorchestra with a programme of works by Giovanni Legrenzi.
On Sat., 25 July, 'Flöte hoch 2' brings the fascinating sound world of historical flutes into focus. Remaining tickets for this concert are available here.
Even before 'Il pomo d'oro' premieres on 7 and 8 August, the 'Werkstattkonzert' ('Workshop Concert') on Saturday, 25 July at 10.00 a.m. offers a rare glimpse into the creative process. Experience Ottavio Dantone, the Accademia Bizantina and the soloists as they bring this extraordinary opera to life in front of an audience for the very first time. Between the musical excerpts, Ottavio Dantone shares insights into the collaborative rehearsal process, the art of ensemble playing, and the aspects that matter most to him as musical director.

And rehearsals have also begun for Barockoper:Jung. Pictured here are the two directors, François de Carpentries and Karine Van Hercke, explaining the route to Acadia to the team. A wonderful cast, featuring Cesti Prize winner Salvador Simão, embarks on a journey through love's entanglements and the hunt for the legendary boar in Handel's 'Atalanta'.
