Violinist Veronika Skuplik and lutenist Andreas Arend are moving on wings of song and in the rhythm of dance on their journey through Italian music from the 17th century. Ciaccona and aria, canzona and gagliarda, saraband and the soave melodia comprise both: the high ideal of voice-like instrumental performance is attained on a resonating dance floor. In the process, the violinist and the lutenist switch their habitual roles: on the instrument with a cantabile quality, Veronika Skuplik dances an allemande and a courante, while Andreas Arend sings an aria by Alessandro Piccinini on the plucked instrument.

Another master lutenist, Girolamo Kapsperger, along with the Innsbruck Court Violinists Giovanni Bonaventura Viviani and Giovanni Antonio Pandolfi Mealli, are constant companions of the duo, whose instruments will merge in sonatas and fantasias.
