People danced in a «sensual, wild and unbridled manner» in the baroque period, as a contemporary encyclopaedia stated. The Austrian zeitgeist ensemble transposes the exciting dance music to the present on instruments of that time. To let go of the rhythmic and melodic reins, the young «early musicians» hop onto the stage of the Innsbruck Theatre Car and take a ride on a historic tram of the Innsbruck public transport service.

Once upon a time, both the aristocracy and the common folk danced to the same melodies but to different types of music. Many of the courtly dances originated from folk dances and were thus adopted from folklore and the lower classes. But not all dance music came from the people – the people on the street appropriated popular tunes from the castles and palaces in equal measure. The zeitgeist ensemble calls its exuberant folk-dance party «Hully-Gully», an alternative spelling of Halligalli. The example sentence provided by the German standard dictionary «Duden» for the term: «If there’s Halligalli, I’ll be there.» Sounds like it would be a great idea to visit the Concerto Mobile!
