The suspenseful finals to determine the winners of the world’s most prestigious competition for baroque opera singing will be held for the ninth time in the scope of the Festival. While winners and participants from the past eight years are now conquering the world’s most important opera stages, new talents are already gathering in Innsbruck. Even making it to the final puts entrants in the international limelight, singing for a festival audience made up of connoisseurs and a high-calibre jury.

The mandatory programme for the singers from all over the world consists of arias from the opera which is to be staged as a Barockoper:Jung production at the Festival the following year. In 2019 this will be Handel’s opera seria «Ottone, re di Germania».
