Artists Maurice Steger
Introduction 19.00

What a lovely passion! The Austrian politician Aloys Thomas Raimund von Harrach, Imperial Envoy in Dresden and Madrid, Land Marshal in Lower Austria and Viceroy of Naples, liked to pick up the flauto dolce instead of the sceptre every now and then, and appears to have been quite an accomplished instrumentalist. Otherwise he would not have been able to play the brilliant music pieces he commissioned and took with him as mementos of the various places where he resided. The sheet music manuscripts of the Harrach collections were sifted through again only a couple of years ago. Swiss flautist Maurice Steger delved into the Count’s repertoire and rediscovered these valuable collectibles.
