Karolina Bengtsson was accepted into the Frankfurt Opera ensemble in 2023/24 after completing her training at the opera studio. In 2025/26, her roles will include Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), Anna (Blühen), Pipetta / The Duchess (Die Banditen), Sophie (Werther) and Little Girl (Bluthochzeit). The Swedish soprano’s most recent roles include Aljeja (From the House of the Dead), Lady’s Chambermaid (Macbeth), Barbarina (Le nozze di Figaro), Pamina / Papagena (Die Zauberflöte), Silvia (Ascanio in Alba), Belisa (In seinem Garten liebt Don Perlimplín Belisa), Frasquita (Carmen), Ein junger Hirt (Tannhäuser), Kate Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) and Isaura (Francesca da Rimini), which she has already performed at the Tyrolean Festival in Erl. She appeared as Clotilde (Norma), a role she also sang in Frankfurt, at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. In 2025, she will sing Camille (‘Louise’) at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and Dori (‘Ifigenia in Tauride’) at the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music. She studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen and at the Mozarteum in Salzburg with Barbara Bonney. Karolina Bengtsson has won awards at the International Haydn Competition for Classical Song and Aria, the Chamber Opera Competition at Rheinsberg Castle, the ‘Debut’ singing competition in Weikersheim and the International Singing Competition ‘Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg’, among others.
