Federico Fiorio

Federico Fiorio_no1_┬® Vinicio Cannas_zugeschnitten

Born in Verona, the Male Soprano Federico Fiorio studied under the guidance of Lia Serafini and Patrizia Vaccari and graduated with honors from both the F. A. Bonporti Conservatory and the Parma Arrigo Boito Conservatory. He attended masterclasses with Roberta Invernizzi at the Giuseppe Gherardeschi International Academy of Organ and Early Music in Pistoia.

As a child he sang in a children’s choir in Verona and has since then kept his soprano voice, performing as a soloist and recording, in 2013, a CD entitled “Come voce antica risuonano fili di luce” with harpist Marina Bonetti.

At only 16 years old, Federico made his debut as a male soprano in the roles of Enea and Iarba in a pasticcio for the Teatro Ristori in Verona, followed by performances as Erster Knabe in Mozart’s Zauberflöte at the Verona Teatro Filarmonico. He subsequently debuted at the Teatro Malibran as Lidio in Tommaso Albinoni’s Zenobia, regina de’ Palmireni.

Federico Fiorio has collaborated with conductors such as Diego Fasolis, Ottavio Dantone, Giovanni Antonini, Jordi Savall, George Petrou, Jean-Christophe Spinosi and Carlo Ipata.

The 2021/2022 season saw him performing Gaetano Manna’s Cantata di San Gennaro (Amor Divino) and Orff’s Carmina Burana (The Swan) both under José Luis Basso for the Naples Teatro San Carlo, Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas (Spirit) at Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Handel’s Giulio Cesare (Sesto) at Teatro Verdi in Pisa, and Amanzio in a new production of Vivaldi’s Giustino in Drottningholm conducted and directed by the Music Director of the Festival, George Petrou.

In 2022/2023, Federico sang Cavalieri’s Rappresentatione di anima et di corpo (Angelo Custode) with Giovanni Antonini and Il Giardino Armonico for the Wratislavia Cantans Festival in Wrocław, Handel’s Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno (Bellezza) under Diego Fasolis at Opéra de Lausanne, and Vivaldi’s Tamerlano (Andronico) under the baton of Ottavia Dantone leading his Accademia Bizantina in Ravenna, Piacenza, Reggio Emilia, Modena and Lucca.

Recent and future engagements include Nerone in Pier Luigi Pizzi’s staging of L’incoronazione di Poppea in Cremona, Como, Pavia, Pisa, Ravenna, Pulgar in Carretero’s La Bella Susona at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Siviglia, Hyacintus in Mozart’s Apollo et Hyacinthus in Malta and Aquilio in Graun’s Adriano in Siria in Potsdam. Federico will present a Vivaldi programme with Giulio Prandi and the Ghislieri Orchestra at Musikgebouw Amsterdam, Bruxelles Bozar and deSingel in Antwerp. With the complicity of Ottavio Dantone, he appears as Nerone in Handel’s Agrippina for the Seine Musicale in Paris.
