Los Elementos

The Ensemble Los Elementos was born in 2018 with the aim of performing for the first time with historic instruments the zarzuela “Vendado es Amor, no es ciego”, by the composer José de Nebra, one of the greatest exponents of Spanish baroque. Founded by Alberto Miguélez Rouco, it is made up of musicians of different nationalities, most of them linked to the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland. One of its main objectives is the performance, recovery and dissemination of Spain’s rich musical heritage, especially that of the 18th century.

In 2019, they recorded this zarzuela in collaboration with the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis for the prestigious record label Glossa, published in June 2020 and obtaining excellent reviews in both national and international specialised magazines. In September 2020, they recorded their second CD, Cantadas, in which Alberto Miguélez Rouco recovered 4 unpublished cantadas for contralto by the masters Francisco Corselli and José de Nebra. They also performed the zarzuela “Vendado es Amor, no es ciego” at the Festival de Amigos de la Ópera de La Coruña and at the Auditorio Nacional de Madrid to great acclaim. In November 2021 they recorded for Glossa Nebra’s zarzuela “Donde hay violencia, no hay culpa”, and in 2023 his opera “Venus y Adonis”. In March 2023, they performed “Donde hay violencia, no hay culpa” at the Teatro de la Zarzuela, and in June they opened the prestigious Stockholm Early Music Festival. In the summer of 2024, they make their debut at the festivals of Innsbruck, Saintes and Prades. Their engagements for the 2024-2025 season include Corselli's “El robo de las Sabinas” at the Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, Torres’ “Requiem” in Versailles or Handel's “Clori, Tirsi e Fileno” in Madrid, Bilbao, Valencia and Sevilla.
