Born in Italy in 1999, countertenor Nicolò Balducci is quickly establishing himself on the international concert and opera stage and is praised for his “singing full of joy and freedom” (Opera Wire, USA), his “crystal-clear timbre” and the “enviable agility of his coloratura” (Gramophone Magazine).

Highlights of the 2023/24 season include Gilbert in “Roméo et Juliette” by Zingarelli, Imeneo in “Gloria e Imeneo” by Vivaldi, Nerone in L'incoronazione di Poppea by Monteverdi and Handel's Messiah at the Château de Versailles, Lucio Cinna in Mozart's “Lucio Silla” at the Salzburg Landestheater, Morte Eterna in “Il dono della vita eterna” by Antonio Draghi at the Festival d'Ambronay under Leonardo García Alarcón, another Nerone at the Cologne Opera and the Opéra de Toulon as well as Arzane in “Arsilda, regina di Ponto” with La Cetra and Andrea Marcon in Basel.

Last season, Balducci sang Nerone under Leonardo García Alarcón at the Palau de les Arts Valencia, Osmino in “La fida ninfa” by Vivaldi at the Festwochen Innsbruck, Cherubino in “Le nozze di Figaro” at the Teatro Comunale di Ferrara and - together with Dan Laurin (recorder) and Anna Paradiso (harpsichord) - gave several concerts in Sweden, including at the Stockholm Early Music Festival.

In 2021, while still a student, he made his debut at the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza as Oberto in “Alcina” under the direction of Andrea Marcon. In 2022, he sang Periarco in Francesco Cavalli's “Il Xerse” at the Festival della Valle d'Itria under Federico Maria Sardelli (director: Leo Muscato), the solo part in Arvo Pärt's Stabat Mater with La Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini on a tour of Europe and began his collaboration with the ensemble Dolci Affetti and with the Baroque Academy of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra.

Nicolò Balducci has an exclusive contract with the Swedish record label BIS Records. His first solo CD, “Castrapolis - Neapolitan Cantatas and Arias”, was released in 2022, followed by “Amore Dolore - Countertenor Arias” in March 2023. A third CD with songs by Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven is due to be released later this year.
Nicolò Balducci won 1st prize and the Young Artist prize at the Concorso internazionale di canto Renata Tebaldi 2022 as well as 3rd prize and the Young Artist prize at the Cesti Competition 2022 in Innsbruck.
