Venice, 17.02.1734: First performance of Vivaldi's "Olimpiade"
The time will soon come: on Tuesday, March 21, the program of the Innsbruck Festival 2023 will be published. One highlight this summer will be the performance of Vivaldi's opera "Olimpiade", which premiered exactly 289 years ago today at the Teatro Sant'Angelo in Venice. The opera will be musically directed by our outgoing artistic director Alessandro De Marchi, who already brought an Olimpiade to his first Innsbruck Festival in 2010, namely that of Giovanni Battista Pergolesi. Thus an arc spans the 14-year directorship of Alessandro De Marchi. Don't miss this very special opera performance! The direction of "Olimpiade" is in the hands of Stefano Vizioli, who already thrilled with the production of the opera "La Dori" in 2019. Can you still remember it?
In addition to "Olimpiade" there are many other program highlights to experience from July 11 to August 29, 2023 at the Innsbruck Festival. Be excited and don't forget the presale start on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, from 09.00 a.m.!
You can also look forward to this year's Cesti Competition. Since this week, young singers can apply again for the prestigious singing competition. Maybe you know someone who should definitely be there.
