Stams collegiate church will transform into the sound architecture of San Marco for an evening devoted to the music of the directors of the Venetian Cathedral Orchestra, Andrea and Giovanni Gabrieli, Claudio Monteverdi as well as their students and musical heirs. Positioned at various places in the nave of Stams church, the Company of Music vocal group from Vienna and the instrumental ensemble Marini Consort from Tyrol will present polychoral masterpieces by Gabrieli’s student Heinrich Schütz, by Biagio Marini, who was engaged as a cathedral musician, and by the Director of the Innsbruck Court Orchestra Johann Stadlmayr, a contemporary of Monteverdi.
