Giacomo Nanni was born in Rome, where he obtained his diploma in Singing. Winner of the third prize in the 2023 edition of the Cesti Competition in Innsbruck and former student of the Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro, he also won the 2025 edition of the AsLiCo Competition for the role of Dulcamara in ‘L’elisir d’amore’.
The baritone has debuted in various roles, including Leporello in Mozart’s ‘Don Giovanni’ (Vicenza and Rome), Bibi (precursor to Leporello) in Melani’s ‘L’empio punito (Rome and Rieti, DVD for Dynamic), Pallante in Händel’s `’Agrippina’ (Stockholm), Minos in Händel’s ‘Arianna in Creta’ (Innsbruck), Antinoo in Monteverdi’s ‘Il ritorno di Ulisse in patria’ (Rome and Rieti), Giove in Fux’s ‘Amore e Psiche’ (Graz), Saturno in Legrenzi’s ‘La divisione del mondo’ (Kiel), Figaro in Paisiello’s ‘Il barbiere di Siviglia’ (Siena), Alidoro in Rossini’s ‘La Cenerentola’ (Fondazione Rete Lirica delle Marche), Guglielmo in Mozart’s ‘Così fan tutte’ (Varese), Schaunard in Puccini’s ‘La Bohème’ (Sandnes, Norway), Esaù in the world premiere of ‘The Song of the Ladder’ by John Barber (Prato), Ben in ‘Il telefono’ and Mr. Gobineau in ‘La medium’ by Gian Carlo Menotti (Milan and Varese), Vittorio in Rota’s ‘I due timidi’ (Rieti, CD and DVD for Dynamic), Menippo in ‘Il giudizio di Paride’ by Marcello Panni (Rome), Uberto in Pergolesi’s ‘La serva padrona’ (Saint Michel), Tracollo in Pergolesi’s ‘Livietta e Tracollo’ (Varese), Walton in Bellini’s ‘I Puritani’ (Paris) and Lord Sidney in Rossini’s ‘Il viaggio a Reims’ (Pesaro).
Giacomo Nanni has worked with conductors such as Francesco Corti (Stockholm, Drottningholm Slottsteater), Alfredo Bernardini (Graz, Schloss Eggenberg), Riccardo Doni (Stresa, Palazzo dei Congressi), Giacomo Sagripanti (Paris, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées), Enrico Saverio Pagano (Milan, Teatro dal Verme), Jonathan Webb (Prato, Chiesa di S. Domenico), Angelo Michele Errico (Siena, Teatro dei Rinnovati), and Marcello Panni (Rome, Teatro Palladium).
Active as well in the concert field, he inaugurated the 2022 season of the Stresa Festival as the bass soloist in J. S. Bach’s Matthäus-Passion. He has collaborated with Enrico Saverio Pagano and his Orchestra Canova and has performed at various festivals, including Reate Festival, Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, ‘Vesperali’ Festival in Lugano, Urbino Musica Antica Festival and Festival International de Musique in Algiers.
