Maximiliano Danta

Maximiliano Danta (c) Margherita Pupulin

Born in Uruguay, Maximiliano Danta began his vocal studies with Maestra Beatriz Pazos. In Italy, he earned a degree in Renaissance and Baroque Singing at the Novara ‘Guido Cantelli’ Conservatory under the guidance of Maestro Roberto Balconi, and he is currently pursuing advanced studies in Chamber Music for early instruments and voices at the Turin ‘Giuseppe Verdi’ Conservatory, under the direction of Maestro Andrea Marchiol.

He has performed at renowned festivals, including Resonanzen Wien (Konzerthaus, Austria), Early Music Festival – Müpa Budapest (Béla Bartók National Concert Hall, Hungary), Internacional Bach Festival (Auditorium Alfredo Kraus, Gran Canaria, Spain), Rencontres Baroques du Montfrin, Claviers en Pays d’Auch and L’été in France, Marchesato Opera Festival in Saluzzo, MiTo Settembre Musica, Back To Bach, Festival delle Nazioni and Amici della Musica in Padua, Italy.

He has collaborated with prominent conductors and musicians such as Ottavio Dantone, Gabriel Garrido, Luca Guglielmi, Gerd Amelung, Paolo Da Col, and Claudio Chiavazza.

Among the roles he has performed are Sesto in ‘Giulio Cesare’ by G. F. Handel, Fama in ‘Il trionfo della Fama’ by Francesco Bartolomeo Conti, Teagene in ‘Achille in Sciro’ by J. F. Agricola, Cupid in ‘Venus & Adonis’ by John Blow, Sorcerer and Spirit in ‘Dido & Aeneas’ by Henry Purcell, Pastore, Messaggera and Speranza in ‘L’Orfeo’ by Claudio Monteverdi, San Francesco Saverio in ‘San Ignacio de Loyola’ by Domenico Zipoli, La Morte in ‘La Morte delusa’ by Giovanni Battista Bassani, and Luigia in ‘Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali’ by Gaetano Donizetti.

He was awarded first prize at the prestigious International Singing Competition for Baroque Opera ‘Pietro Antonio Cesti’ and also won the Premio Nazionale delle Arti, 17th edition, in the category of music with early instruments and voices.

His sacred repertoire includes works such as the Messe brevi by J. S. Bach – Messe A-Dur BWV 234, Messe g-Moll BWV 235 and Messe G-Dur BWV 236 – the Christmas Oratorio, St John Passion and St Matthew Passion, Psalm 51 by Pergolesi - Bach, the Te Deum by Marc-Antoine Charpentier, the Stabat Mater, Dixit Dominus, and the Testo in ‘Passio secundum Joannem’ by Alessandro Scarlatti, as well as the Stabat Mater and Gloria by Antonio Vivaldi.

He recorded the role of Amore in ‘La Flora’ by Marco da Gagliano for the GLOSSA label. For the Nova Antiqua label, he took part in the recording of the ‘Vespro per San Contardo d’Este’ by Giovanni Battista Vitali together with the Madrigalisti Estensi.

With his ensemble L’Humana Fragilità, he performs a variety of musical programs as a multi-instrumentalist (voice, lirone, and cornetto), including ‘Al suon di questa Lira, l’incanto musicale di Orfeo, Anima mea liquefacta est, and Su la dotta Lira, le fiamme di celesti amanti trasformati’.
