The work of the Franco/Flemish composer and singer Josquins was not only at the forefront of what the music of the early Renaissance was able to produce, it also remained extremely popular for generations to come. In our "Reflections", lutenist and composer Andreas Arend takes things another step further by adding self-composed counterpoints for vocals and the viola to three already “intavolated” Marian motets of Josquins, which he has selected, in a completely authentic manner. The result is finely-tuned chamber music. Before and in between, the Prague vocal ensemble Cappella Mariana performs the “Missa la sol fa re mi”, as well as a “Virgo prudentissima” to help set the mood.
